Valley Vet

As you all know, I work at the Cherokee vet. I have for about a year and a half and I just love my job there!
Things have been going really good the past few weeks...I've gotten to go and watch surgeries a few times this month and it's been really fun!!
We have had quite a few interesting animals come through the vet. Like this cat ("Snickers") that got hit by a car and broke his pelvis...a few days later, he came back to the vet because his front legs stopped working. This cat was paralyzed! We had to spoon feed him, he couldn't go to the bathroom on his own and he was just a mess. I think they ended up putting him down...which was the best thing to do!!
We've also had some really cute strays! Faye (she works for my parents) just adopted our favorite one, a German shepherd/Chow mix.
It's been a lot of fun working with all these animals...getting to do what I love!! Even though it can get really stressful at times. God has truly blessed me...with this job, my co-workers, bosses, the animals, and everything I've been learning!!
Here is the cat that was paralyzed...I got to spoon feed him one day.

This is Faye's dog, "Maggie"

This cat got in a fight...we had to flush out his wounds.
That's what he looked like after the surgery.
Flushing "battle wounds" are probably the messiest surgeries,
at least that I have seen!

Dr. Benson's cat, "Tigger"...she stays at the vet all the time.
I enjoy seeing her every time I work!

Psalm 37

1Do not fret because of evildoers,
         Be not envious toward wrongdoers.
    2For they will wither quickly like the grass
         And fade like the green herb.
    3aTrust in the LORD and do good;

    4Delight yourself in the LORD;
         And He will give you the desires of your heart.
    5Commit your way to the LORD,
         Trust also in Him, and He will do it.
    6He will bring forth your righteousness as the light
         And your judgment as the noonday.
    7Rest in the LORD and wait patiently for Him;
        Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way,
         Because of the man who carries out wicked schemes.
    8Cease from anger and forsake wrath;
         Do not fret; it leads only to evildoing.
    9For evildoers will be cut off,
         But those who wait for the LORD, they will inherit the land.
    16Better is the little of the righteous
         Than the abundance of many wicked.
    23The steps of a man are established by the LORD,
         And He delights in his way.
    24When he falls, he will not be hurled headlong,
         Because the LORD is the One who holds his hand.
      27Depart from evil and do good,
         So you will abide forever.
    32The wicked spies upon the righteous
         And seeks to kill him.
    33The LORD will not leave him in his hand
         Or let him be condemned when he is judged.
    34aWait for the LORD and keep His way,
         And He will exalt you to inherit the land;
    39But the salvation of the righteous is from the LORD;
         He is their strength in time of trouble.
    40The LORD helps them and delivers them;
         He delivers them from the wicked and saves them,
         Because they take refuge in Him.

Psalm 37:1-9, 16, 23-24, 27, 32-34a, 39-40

I read this Psalm the other night and fell in love with it!! It's a really cool chapter and really inspiring. I encourage you all to read the whole chapter sometime.
(Just curious if anyone has some really good devotional "ideas" for me...I'm not quite sure what to read now. let me know if you do! Thanks!!)

Roxy

I knew this dog named Roxy,
Sometimes she could act a little foxy

She had eyes of brown,
And a coat of yellow,
She never wore a frown

She loved to play,
And tackle Callie,
Whatever time of day

I had so much fun taking care of her,
Watching her play, eat,
And petting her soft fur

Even though I didn't know her that well,
I have some great stories to tell

And from the very start,
She has left a paw print on my heart

This poem is in memory of Roxy Irwin. A beautiful Yellow Lab.
I took care of her and Callie (another Lab) a few times in the past year or two.
Even though I didn't know her nearly as well as her owners,
she was very special to me! I loved her so much!
Roxy died because of old age...it broke my heart to hear that.
But I'm just so thankful that she got to be a part of my life!
